Differences between a Balloon Arch and a Balloon Garland

Structure

A balloon arch is a freestanding decor design because it is attached to a frame and it has balloons from one side to the next, while a balloon garland is a draping arrangement of balloons (these too can be made freestanding using a frame if there are no rigging points).

Shape:

Balloon arches are typically shaped like a half-circle (curved or arched) or a square. However, arches can be shaped like any desired form such as a heart, star, etc. Balloon garlands, on the other hand, are created in a more free-flowing shape, can be hung at any height or draped across surfaces.

Design

Balloon arches can be made in various patterns depending on the occasion and personal preference. Some popular patterns include spiral, rainbow, ombre, and organic shapes.

How to Calculate Arch Size

The cost of an arch is based on the size, which is measured in linear ft. When deciding on the size of your balloon arch, measure the height and width of the area where it will be displayed. Use the following calculations below to determine the approx. length (linear. ft.) of the arch. 

  • If the balloon arch is wider than it is tall: 

    H + W= Total Length

  •  If the balloon arch height and width are about the same: 

    1.5(H) + W= Total Length

  • If the balloon arch is taller than it is wide:

    2(H) + W= Total Length
